Midwest Radiology Associates
Midwest provides our interpretations and has a proven history with Board Certified Radiologists in several sub-specialties. You can count on the interpretations being accurate, concise and rapid. They are a great resource and welcome your questions. Whether routine or emergency they will provide you with the results you need to provide the best care to your patients.
Chris Degner, M.D.
Dr. Degner was born in Kansas City, and raised in Great Bend, Kansas. His father was also a radiologist, and his mother a nurse. All 3 of his siblings are physicians. Dr. Degner graduated from Kansas State University and went on to become an ultrasound and radiology technologist. Dr. Degner worked as an ultrasound technologist at OU Medical Center and Deaconess Hospital from 1981-1989. During this time, he returned to the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, where he received his MD in 1985. He completed a Radiology Residency at OU and received his Board Certification in 1989. For the last 25 years, Dr. Degner has worked as a radiologist based in Midwest City.
Dr. Degner’s greatest pride is his son, Brian, who is currently completing a Master’s in Engineering at Purdue University. Dr. Degner enjoys all outdoor activities “anything to get off of the concrete,” especially fly fishing, hunting (primarily with a camera now), hiking and traveling. His travels often take him to remote countries and wilderness, but he also enjoys the cultural centers of our country and the world.
Robert Jarman, M.D.
Dr. Jarman was born in Oklahoma City, and raised in Enid, Oklahoma, where his father worked as an orthopedic surgeon for 40 years. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with Distinction in 1985. At OU, Dr. Jarman was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and received the Letzeiser Award. He attended OU College of Medicine and received his MD in 1989. He went on to the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, where he completed an internship in Orthopedic Surgery and a year of Orthopedic Surgery residency, before returning to OU for radiology residency. Dr. Jarman completed his radiology residency as Chief Resident in 1995, and received his board certification that same year. Since 1995, Dr. Jarman has been a member of Midwest Radiology Group, working as a general radiologist with an emphasis on musculoskeletal and interventional radiology.
Dr. Jarman’s wife, Jennifer, is an obstetrician/gynecologist in Oklahoma City. Their oldest child, Meg, recently graduated from the University of Virginia, and now lives and works in Washington, D.C. Their youngest, Jennings, is entering his sophomore year at the University of Virginia, where he is studying history and global development. Dr. Jarman’s hobbies include traveling, especially to Europe, skiing, reading/motivation and coaching middle school football.
Shawn Grant, M.D.
Dr. Grant did his undergraduate work at Northern Kentucky University, and went on attend medical school at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, from where he graduated in 1996. He did a surgical internship at UK, then went on to complete a Radiology Residency at the University of Nebraska. He is a 10-year veteran of the United States Navy, and upon completion of his residency, was an assistant professor at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth. During the next several years, Dr. Grant worked as an assistant professor at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, and in private practice in Lexington, Kentucky, before joining a private practice in Tulsa.
Dr. Grant and his wife Shirah, have one daughter, Madelyn. They enjoy travel and many outdoor activities. Dr. Grant will complete a Master’s in Theology in December, 2016.
Laura Young, M.D.
Dr. Young was raised in Norman, Oklahoma, where her father worked as an emergency department physician for 30 years. She went to the University of Texas-Austin on track and cross country scholarships, and was a member of 3 NCAA championship teams during her years at Texas. After graduating with a degree in Journalism, Dr. Young lived and worked in Boston, Massachusetts, for 4 years, during which time she completed pre-medical requirements at Harvard University Extension School. She attended OU College of Medicine, graduating in 1998 with distinction and as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. After a surgical internship at OU, Dr. Young completed a radiology residency at Baptist Integris Medical Center, where she was Chief Resident and received board certification in 2003. She has worked as a general radiologist with Midwest Radiology Group since 2003.
Dr. Young’s main hobby is keeping up with her 3 active children. The oldest, Austin, is a junior at Edmond Memorial High School, where he is a member of the cross country and soccer teams, and is a competitive soccer player outside of school. Alaina is a sophomore at Oklahoma Christian School, participating in many school sports, as well as equestrian horseback riding. Sarah, a 4th grader at Oklahoma Christian School, is a horse enthusiast and an equestrian rider.
